Pride of the Americas in Fort Lauderdale
On February 11, the first Pride of the Americas was hosted in Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park, located at 80 Las Olas Circle, right off Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Around Noon, the Pride of the America's Parade began, and it proceeded straight into the new Pride festival location. The festival's gates opened at 1 pm, and Boy George's complete concert, which started at 7:30 pm, brought the event to a close at 10 pm.
"The Pride of the Americas" experience was a fantastic experience, despite a last-minute consolidation of the schedule. A VIP experience, TransPride, well-known DJs from around the world, and up to 70 merchants were still part of the festival, according to Miik Martorell, president of Pride Fort Lauderdale, a regional producer of Pride of the Americas. And, of course, Pride was celebrated right here near the entrance to the Americas with the iconic Boy George and other surprises.
The international celebration will begin on Friday, February 10 with Pride on the Drive presented by Visit Lauderdale, in collaboration with Midland Family & CAN Community Health, Gilead, and AHF, an outdoor event with two stages taking over the Shoppes of Wilton Manors parking lot. This event is anticipated to draw visitors from North, Central, and South America as well as the Caribbean. The Wilton Manors Business Association, Hunter's Nightclub, and Thunderpuss (Chris Cox and Barry Harris), two highly regarded international club DJs/Producers, will perform on the Hunter's Nightclub Stage. The Caribbean music and entertainment on display at The Alibi Stage, a Pride Fete Takeover, were created in collaboration with Wilton Manors Entertainment Group.
The public could attend the Pride of the America's Parade for free. When you registered on our website, tickets to Pride on the Drive were also free. But general admission festival tickets are $10 at the gate and $8 in advance. The VIP experience had a certain number of tickets available.
